Internal bleaching is a procedure that can only be performed on a tooth that has had a root canal or is dying (turning dark). This means the blood vessels and nerves inside the tooth have been replaced with medication. We would drill a small hole (pain-free) into your tooth and put the bleaching solution in the canal where the root canal treatment was completed. We then seal the hole with a temporary filling, leaving the bleach inside your tooth. You will return approximately every three to four days to refresh the bleaching solution inside your tooth until we reach the desired whiteness you like.
If you have a dark tooth due to root canal therapy or a slowly dying tooth, this is the answer.
