people who use tobacco are likely to have
more calculus, bone and soft tissue loss, and eventual loss of teeth, than people who do not use tobacco products. Also, dental implants and
gum treatment are not as effective. The NIDCR reports approximately 90%
of oral cancer deaths are attributable to smoking. Bad breath, discoloring
of teeth, loss of taste and oral ulcers are other harmful effects.
